Name: Rachel "Rae" Fuqua

Major(s)/Minor(s): Pre-nursing major

Hometown: Durham, North Carolina

How did you know the Honors College was right for you?
I was hesitant to apply at first because I thought that Honors credit would just mean more busy work, and that was the last thing I needed being in such a demanding major. However, I checked out the class descriptions and the explanation of how Honors classes are run differently from regular classes, and I have not regretted my decision to join thus far! I love the round-table discussion set up of Honors classes, and the classes offered are usually on very interesting subjects that aren't offered in regular classes. Benefits like special scholarships and getting to register early for classes don't hurt either :)

What has been your favorite Honors experience so far?
Taking the "Birds, Bees, and Philosophies" class with Professor Bolte. It was a refreshing change of pace from the other heavily academic classes I was taking that semester.

What does "Honors" mean to you now that you are here at UNCG?
Honors College means being able to live my potential to its fullest at an already wonderful and diverse University. The friends that I've met living in Honors housing I most likely would have never met if I had not joined LIHC. I also probably would not have the amount of diversity in my classes if I had not joined LIHC.
