An honors college is a community of scholars, made up of students, faculty, and staff. It exists in an environment that celebrates learning and the pursuit of knowledge. In order to tap the expertise, commitment, and talents of UNCG's very best faculty, the College has established the Chancellor's Resident Fellows Program. This program offers a wonderful opportunity for UNCG faculty to change their teaching routine and teach exclusively for one year the highly motivated and talented students in the Honors College. In 2009-2010 Dr. Jeff Jones (History) and Dr. Patrick Lee Lucas (Interior Architecture) hold the Fellowship.
The Call for Applications for 2010-2011 Fellows, which includes detailed instructions, can be downloaded here. If you are interested in securing one of the Fellowship positions, please submit an application letter, approved by your department Head and Dean, to Lloyd International Honors College (205 Foust building) by November 13, 2009. The selected Fellows will be notified by December 15, 2009. Department faculty in disciplines currently represented by a Resident Fellow will not be eligible for selection in the succeeding year. For the Fellowships to be awarded for 2010-2011, faculty in the departments of History and Interior Architecture are not eligible.
If you have questions about the Fellowship Program or your application, please contact Jerry Pubantz, Director of Lloyd International Honors College at 256-2579 or 334-5538; or by e-mail at j_pubant@uncg.edu.
An honors college is a community of scholars, made up of students, faculty, and staff. It exists in an environment that celebrates learning and the pursuit of knowledge. The Lloyd International Honors College shares in this general characterization but also encourages its members to pursue knowledge with the constant recognition that we live in an interdependent world filled with unique cultures, political systems, and ways of knowing. Central to the mission and work of the Lloyd International Honors College are the talented UNCG faculty who teach the College’s courses and interact with its students. In order to recognize the extraordinary contribution faculty make to the success of the Honors College and to tap the expertise, commitment, and talents of our very best faculty, the College has established the Faculty Fellows Program.
A Fellow is a UNCG faculty member who has taught three or more dedicated Honors Courses (general education or disciplinary) for students in the Honors College. Each spring Fellows will be recognized at a reception hosted by the University Provost. Their important service to the UNCG will be publicly acknowledged. Throughout the year Fellows will be invited to participate in all Lloyd International Honors College activities and to interact with Honors College students whenever possible.
