We are thrilled that you are considering the Honors College as a part of your international educational experience!

Degree-seeking international students may apply for admission to two outstanding programs in the Honors College! Students who are applying to UNCG to enter as first-year students may consider the International Honors Program. Featuring small, liberal-arts based courses and focusing on building an intercultural worldview, this program is ideal for the curious and adventurous student looking to grow in an outstanding developmental environment. Honors students also have access to special benefits: priority registration, eligibility for Honors housing, access to Honors advising, eligibility for Honors scholarships, and a wealth of programming and events designed for Honors students.

Admission to The Honors College's International Honors Program is competitive and by application only. In order to be eligible to apply, incoming first-year applicants must have:

  • a minimum 1270 Math + Evidence-Based Reading and Writing SAT score, OR
  • a 26 ACT score, OR
  • a 3.8 (weighted) high school GPA.

Additional factors play an important part in the consideration process, and attention will be paid to evidence of leadership, service, co-curricular activities, and creative endeavors. If eligible, you will be invited to apply to the International Honors Program through your Spartanlink account. You will complete the application while completing the application to UNCG. Visit the International Honors Program Admissions page for information about applying to join the International Honors Program in the Fall semester.

If you are applying to UNCG with most of your general education courses already completed at another institution, consider applying for the Disciplinary Honors Program! Disciplinary Honors allows students to complete Honors coursework in their majors, culminating with a Senior Honors Thesis directed by a faculty mentor. Admission to Disciplinary Honors requires a minimum cumulative UNCG GPA of 3.30 to 3.50, depending on your major. Visit the Disciplinary Honors Admissions page to apply!
