Charles Bolton

History

Dr. Charles Bolton is a professor in the Department of History and Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences. His research area is the history of the U.S. South, and he has published books on poor whites in the antebellum South, school integration in Mississippi, and a biography of a former southern governor. He also has an interest in the use of oral history to document the region’s past. Before coming to UNCG, he was director of the Center for Oral History and Cultural Heritage at the University of Southern Mississippi.
