Why Disciplinary Honors
Disciplinary Honors students are full members of Lloyd International Honors College and are eligible for the following:
- Priority registration
- Eligibility for Honors College scholarships*
- Access to all Honors College courses
- Honors advising
- Access to Honors College events and programming
- Cords for graduation, and recognition at our annual Honors Graduation
- Honors designation and the title of your Senior Honors Project on your transcript
*Does not include the Honors Study Abroad Travel Grant
Current Students
To apply for the Disciplinary Honors Program, current UNCG students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30–3.50, depending on their major. Students with fewer than 40 completed credit hours are not eligible but may apply once they reach this threshold.
First-year students at UNCG who have completed 40 credit hours and have sophomore standing or above should wait until after their first semester to apply, provided they have a cumulative GPA of 3.30–3.50, depending on their major.
Transfer Students and Early/Middle College Students
Transfer students with at least 40 credit hours and a cumulative GPA of 3.30–3.50 (depending on their major) may apply to Disciplinary Honors immediately. However, some majors require students to be enrolled at UNCG for at least one semester and have a cumulative UNCG GPA of 3.30–3.50 before applying. Students seeking an exception must meet with their Departmental Liaison to discuss requirements and receive approval to apply. Applications will not be processed without confirmation of this meeting and approval.
Honors Transfer Students
Students transferring from a community college who have completed their Honors Program will be eligible for Full Honors upon finishing the Disciplinary Honors requirements. Additionally, those who have successfully completed a community college honors program will have the Global Honors requirement waived.
