The Provost, Honors, and Residential College Awards recognize outstanding achievements and contributions by students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and community engagement. These awards celebrate individuals who have made a meaningful impact within the Honors College and Residential Colleges through scholarship, service, and a commitment to fostering welcoming, vibrant learning communities. Honorees are nominated by faculty and staff and represent the very best of our academic and residential learning environments.
Dragon Excellence Awards
The Dragon Excellence Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of students in the Lloyd International Honors College. This annual event recognizes excellence across our programs, including Honors and Awards, Residential College Graduation, and Honors Ambassadors.
We honor students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance, leadership, and community engagement in the Global Honors and Disciplinary Honors programs. We also recognize students graduating from our UNCG Residential Colleges, who have contributed meaningfully to their living–learning communities.
Special awards will be presented to our Honors Ambassadors for their dedication to outreach, mentorship, and representing the Honors College with distinction.

On behalf of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor’s Office, Lloyd International Honors College invites nominations for the Provost Student Excellence Award. This award is the highest academic honor given at UNC Greensboro. The Honors Council of Lloyd International Honors College selects the winners from among the nominees.
The 2026 Provost Student Excellence Award nominations will be due in March 2026.

The Global Engagement Award recognizes an individual who has shown exceptional dedication to fostering cross-cultural understanding, global awareness, and international collaboration.
Humanitarianism and Civic Engagement
The Humanitarianism and Civic Engagement Award honors an individual who has demonstrated a profound commitment to making a positive impact on society through selfless service, advocacy, and active participation in civic life.
Excellence Creativity & Arts Awards
The Excellence in Creativity & Arts Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional talent, innovation, and dedication in the arts. This award honors a person whose work in visual arts, performing arts, music, literature, or other creative disciplines stands out for its originality, technical skill, and artistic expression.
Outstanding Research & Scholarship Award
The Outstanding Research & Scholarship Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional achievement in academic research and scholarly pursuits. This award honors a student whose work exemplifies intellectual curiosity, rigorous inquiry, and a commitment to advancing knowledge in their field.
Spirt of LHIC: Play, Perform, and Experiment Award
The Spirt of LHIC: Play, Perform, and Experiment Award is given to the student who embodies the Honors College vision of Play, Perform, and Experiment.
Murray Ardnt Outstanding Student Award
The Murry Ardnt Outstanding Student Award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to personal growth & the Ashby community.
Emily Ardnt Mentorship Award
The Emily Ardnt Mentorship Award is given to an individual who has consistently demonstrated outstanding dedication to guiding, supporting, and inspiring others. This award recognizes someone who goes beyond their own success by generously sharing their knowledge, skills, and time to foster the growth and development of their peers.
Jeanne Aaroe Art Award
The Jeanne Aaroe Art Award is given to a student who embodies the spirit of Ashby (Art, Media, and Design) and honors Prof. Aaroe’s passion for the Arts.
Cornelia Strong Outstanding Student Award
The Cornelia Strong Outstanding Student Award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to personal growth & the Strong community.
Spirit of Social Sustainability & Environmentalism Award
The Spirit of Social Sustainability & Environmentalism is presented to a student who exhibits a strong commitment to the Strong community and to the ethos of Environmentalism and Social Sustainability.
Strong Mentorship Award

Christopher J. Kirkman Memorial Award
The Christopher J. Kirkman Memorial Award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to personal growth & the North Spencer community. Their integrity, perseverance, and positive attitude make them a role model for their peers and a source of inspiration for the entire RC community. This award recognizes the student’s dedication to excellence and their potential for future success.
