Sky Kihuwa-Mani is a May 2022 graduate at UNCG. She is graduating with Full University Honors from Lloyd International Honors College, having completed the requirements for both International Honors and Disciplinary Honors. During her time as a student at UNCG, she has been an Honors Ambassador, conducted undergraduate research, served as President of the Native American Student Association, was featured in our Disciplinary Honors promotional video, and last night she spoke at our Honors Graduation Ceremony.

Sky is featured today on UNCG Magazine with an interview about her journey.

She had this to say about her time in the Honors College at UNCG:

“The central pedagogy of the Honors College is perfectly conducive for a nontraditional or first-generation student making the transition to college. It values growth, improv in education, and the idea that anyone can do anything they set their minds to. The Honors College helped me feel welcome at UNCG from ‘Day One.’”

Sky is going on to pursue her MD-PhD at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, one of the best medical schools in the United States. She is leaving behind an incredible legacy as one of our brightest stars in the Honors College. We are so proud of Sky and all that she has accomplished here at UNCG and in the Honors College, and we cannot wait to see the amazing things she’ll do going forward!
