How did you know the Honors College was right for you?
UNCG has been my dream school for as long as I can remember. I went to every event hosted for prospective students that I could. Upon learning about the Honors College and the values it held, I knew that UNCG and specifically the Honors College was the right fit for me. The values along with the emphasis on global studies and diversity were my selling point since I knew that I wanted a career in the medical field (which has now changed to Social Work). During my freshman year, I had to miss classes for 2 weeks due to a family emergency. After coming back to campus, I was welcomed back with immense support and love from Honors faculty and classmates. At this moment I knew that the Honors College was my new home.
What has been your favorite Honors experience so far?
My favorite experience has been the Honors classes I have taken. The classes are so well taught and really challenge the way you think. I absolutely loved taking the course The Tragedy of Vengeance with Dr. Muich even though it was cut short due to COVID. The class discussions in Honors classes are far from boring and bring in new ideas and interpretations that add so much to the class.
What does “Honors” mean to you now that you are here at UNCG?
“Honors” means taking advantage of every opportunity to further your education and better yourself. It means to never stop learning and to always welcome new ideas. Honors inspires me to take the road less traveled to reach my full potential.
