Honors Visiting Lecturer

Dr. Aisha Dad is a visiting lecturer in Lloyd International Honors College. She Completed her PhD in Comparative Literature at Harvard University, and holds an MA in Ancient Greek and Roman Studies from Brandeis University and a BA in Classical Civilizations from Wellesley College. A broadly trained comparatist, Dr. Dad works on the epic and oral traditions of Ancient Greece, Rome, Persia and the Mughal Empire. Her research focuses on the role of women in relation to the epic and tragic hero, and questions of kinship, race, and identity. Drawing on narrative theory and performance studies, her doctoral dissertation examined the literary history and reception of Anarkali, a Mughal dancing girl, through text, image, architecture and film. An expert storyteller, she enjoys teaching about monsters, heroes, tombs, and travel.
