Dr. McFadden received her Ph.D. in Romance Studies from Duke University after graduating from William and Mary, where she received her bachelor’s degree in French. Her areas of research include contemporary French and Francophone film, video, visual art, and literature, contemporary French and Francophone culture, twentieth-century French women’s film and literature, Feminist theory and film theory. She is the author of Gendered Frames, Embodied Cameras: Varda, Akerman, Cabrera, Calle, and Maïwenn. Madison, NJ: Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, 2014 (paperback 2016).
