Virginia L. Summey is a historian and Faculty Fellow in Lloyd International Honors College at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She received her B.A. in Political Science and History from Catawba College and her Ph.D. in U.S. History from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her research and areas of expertise include Greensboro and North Carolina history, political and legal history, the U.S. South, African-American history, and Women’s history. Her biography of pioneering judge Elreta Melton Alexander is being published by the University of Georgia Press.
