How to Apply

The Honors Scholars Program scholarships are awarded by Lloyd International Honors College. Scholars are members of the Honors College and are eligible for all the benefits offered by the Honors College in addition to their opportunities as a Scholar. To apply for consideration for either scholarship, students must apply to both UNCG and the Honors College. There are no additional requirements for consideration beyond the application to the Honors College.

Eligibility

Students are eligible to apply to the Honors College and be considered for either scholarship if they meet the following criteria:

  • 3.8 weighted high school GPA or 26 ACT composite or 1270 Math and EBRW SAT score
  • Must apply to Lloyd International Honors College to be considered; application includes an essay and résumé
  • Winners of the Katharine Smith Reynolds Scholarship must be residents of North Carolina; winners of the other scholarships do not need to be North Carolina residents

Application Process and Deadlines

If a student meets the above criteria, they will be invited to apply to the Honors College through their Student Portal once they have begun their application to UNCG. The Honors College application requires students to upload a detailed résumé and an essay. Prospective Scholars will be evaluated based on several factors: high school GPA, evidence of leadership, community service, engagement in extracurricular endeavors, and writing ability. Careful preparation of the résumé and essay is encouraged.  The priority deadline for application to the Honors College (and consideration for Scholars Program Scholarships) is December 15, 2023.  Applications submitted by that date will be invited to the next round of scholarship competition by January 15, 2024 and will receive a decision on their acceptance into the Honors College by January 31, 2024.  The regular deadline for application to the Honors College (and consideration for Scholars Program Scholarships) is January 15, 2024.  Applications submitted by that date will receive a decision on their acceptance into the Honors College by March 15, 2024.  For best consideration for a Scholars Program Scholarship, students should plan on applying by the December 15 deadline.
